“Aloha and welcome to JWM ACOUSTICS where Art, Audio and Design Converge…”

About
JWM ACOUSTICS is devoted to the creation of reference-level loudspeakers and the restoration of exceptional pianos and fine furnishings—each realized with an uncompromising commitment to craft, performance, and enduring design.
Every piece is conceived as singular. Built entirely by hand, no two works are alike; each is shaped in response to the individual, the space it will inhabit, and the standard it is expected to uphold. These are not merely instruments of sound reproduction, but enduring objects—designed to resonate not only within a room, but across generations.
Founded by Joshua W. Miles, the work is guided by a lifelong convergence of visual art, music, industrial design, and engineering. What began as curiosity—an early fascination with how recorded sound could be transformed into something living and present—evolved into a disciplined pursuit of mastery. Over time, that pursuit has produced systems regarded by discerning listeners and professionals alike as among the finest expressions of handcrafted audio.
Each loudspeaker is approached as an instrument in its own right: voiced with precision, built with intention, and refined through critical listening. The goal is not merely accuracy, but presence—the ability to dissolve the boundary between reproduction and performance.
This same philosophy extends into restoration. Whether entrusted with a distinguished piano or a piece of heirloom furniture, the work is undertaken with reverence for its history and an exacting standard for its future. Materials, finishes, and structure are addressed with restraint and care, preserving lineage while restoring vitality.
In 2024, JWM ACOUSTICS expanded this commitment to piano restoration through a partnership with Philip Smith, founder of STRYKE TUNING and Music Director at First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. A conductor, master technician, and musician of rare sensitivity, Smith brings a level of musical and technical insight that ensures each instrument is not only restored, but truly brought back to life.
Originally established in Oahu, JWM ACOUSTICS relocated to Georgetown in 2014. The current studio resides on a private property encompassing dedicated woodworking, finishing, electronics, and listening spaces—allowing each phase of creation and evaluation to exist in quiet continuity. Clients are received by appointment for private demonstrations, consultations, and listening sessions.
The work produced here reflects a singular philosophy: that true luxury is not defined by excess, but by intention… not by ornament, but by mastery.
What emerges are instruments and objects of lasting significance—crafted without compromise, and created to be experienced for generations.
